Six months (already) and clearly comfortable

by Bryan Shaw

Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana. (In case you’re interested, this is an example of syntactic ambiguity)

We almost didn’t notice that it’s been six months already since we moved into our new gaff at East Gores Farm. We’re pleased to say that, despite previously being a pig shed, every visitor has commented positively on the offices and how pleasant the environment is. The fact that it’s closer to home for all of us means we’ve reduced our impact on the environment a little, and we’ve been adopted by two regular feline visitors (the packets of Dreamies in Penny’s drawer don’t go unnoticed). Rosie, our almost-daily visitor, is pictured making herself comfortable in her very own bed.

We look forward to welcoming more visitors, especially of the human kind (fruit flies aren’t invited).

You may have spotted a second bit of syntactic ambiguity above. If you didn’t, here’s another - apparently a genuine headline - in this case also known as a crash blossom: ‘British left waffles on Falklands.’
